When it comes to asparagus, farmers talk of the need to hire folks to do it. As the stalks shoot out of the ground it can seem like a row is picked clean only to turn around and see more! A picker might think they were missed, but in fact they are popping while we are not looking.
In 4 days our beds went from a few little shoots to many! We will pick today, for a little, before the season, share distribution to those with farm pickup. Sunday we will bring asparagus to Towson and next week to Hershey. And continue until all has been harvested.
Fresh asparagus. Cool, sun filled evenings. Life is very good.
