MOCAD

Today we are waking up in Detroit. A direct flight from the nine gate airport in Harrisburg..to almost 200 gates for just our airline!

MOCAD, the museum where we will give our talk today, has an exhibit featuring the guys who did all the psychedelic lighting for the Fillmore East, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the like. When the lights change, different images appear in the same spot. Amazing and creative!

Had a chance to see one of the urban farms and to meet the farmer. Also met the staff at this awesome museum. Jon, Sarah and Otto have been showing us around and made the best butternut squash from the backyard pizza ever!

Today we visit one of the largest farmers markets in the U.S., Detroit's Eastern Market. A chance to see what gets grown here at this time of year, and meet more of our posse.

Here, some pictures of the exhibit. And while we are here, Jess got a truckful of straw bales loaded, unloaded and stacked in a dry spot on the farm. We can't have too much mulch, and how awesome to have future weed suppressants stacked up at the farm while we are here.
