clean up, aisle 12

Every one of our laying hens gets moved around to a new spot every day. In the summer time, the walk ways between row of vegetables can get away from us. There is a lot to do each day, and pushing the reel mower over the grassy areas goes on the back burner. Putting the hens in there means we sacrifice some of the crop to them..if they escape, they eat everything!

But in the wintertime, look out. These girls are tearing it up, scratching off every bit of growth right down to the soil. We would like to believe that nothing will grow back it is stripped so clear..but will grow back no matter what we do to it! The girls clearly enjoy it on a cold, clear, early winter day, and this important work keeps them busy and very happy..
