green grass of home

Every year we have wondered if we have killed all the grass on the farm. Summers get so hot and little rain..we wonder how it is possible that the grass survives. Cows eat the entire 12+ acres down to the nubs in the late fall/early winter. We walk the farm in March, April and think maybe it will not ever really grow again. Then the rains come, the warmer nights are upon us, then the sun shines and the grass just jumps out of the ground. Here is this years growth, including our big cow Sybil, a heifer who is due with a calf sometime in the next few weeks. A beautiful time of year to be born, as the weather is cool and comfortable, sunny and warm.
